“Photography was my first love, and I’ll die happy knowing I spent my life creating.”

Over a decade ago, Nicole Smith founded her photography business with a focus on fashion. What started as a passion quickly became a lifelong pursuit—one that has allowed her to collaborate with brands, creatives, and fellow artists to bring ideas to life.

My love for fashion imagery was shaped by some of the industry’s most iconic visionaries. Ralph Lauren’s ability to celebrate women without over-sexualizing them, his rich storytelling, and timeless aesthetic left a lasting impression. I was equally drawn to the work of Irving Penn and Richard Avedon, both masters of composition and capturing depth in their subjects. But one of the most pivotal moments came when I saw a beauty editorial featuring a dark-skinned model—a rare sight at the time. It was in that moment that I became aware of the lack of representation in fashion photography and the importance of creating space for diverse perspectives. That realization continues to influence my work today.

For me, photography is just as much about the process as it is about the final image. The best work comes from collaboration—listening to clients, understanding their needs, and building the right team to bring their vision to life.

Supporting and uplifting other creatives is a core part of what I do. I prioritize bringing in women specialists—stylists, makeup artists, producers, and more—whenever possible, because I believe that women-led teams bring a unique perspective and impact to every project.

None of this would have been possible without the people who have stood by me along the way. To my parents, my wonderful sister, my husband, and my friends—thank you for always believing in me. Your love and support have given me the confidence to keep chasing this dream, and I am forever grateful.
