Fashion Shoot with Veronica from L.A. Models

package san diego fashion and senior portrait photographer

It’s not every day that you create a set of images that you’re truly proud of. This impromptu shoot with Veronica was just that.

I’m sure every photographer knows that feeling: your shooting and it seems like each look just gets better and better. It gets so out-of-hand that you actually have to stop yourself from pushing the shutter. Of course, I’m not taking all of the credit for how the shots turned out. Veronica has been modeling for years and is truly a pro as posing and emitting emotion. She styled the shoot, brought all of her own wardrobes, and even did her own hair and makeup. So let’s just say she’s the bomb-dot-com.

I promise I did some of the work too! I just wanted to experiment with some texture in the background so I layered two to three backdrops to give it some depth. For my lighting, I used one large softbox with both diffusion panels and a large V-flat. The softbox was placed to my right and feathered towards Veronica while the V-flat was to her left to give her a bit of fill. In some of the shots, I moved the V-flat further and closer to her just for some added depth and variety.

All the post-processing was done in Capture One then finished in Photoshop.

Images shot with the Canon 5D Mark III and the 85mm 1.8 Canon lens.
